Life Mantra

The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.

I draw inspirations from

My role model – my father, Fellow Educationists, my teachers & Students who are constant learners, who provoke me to continuously search for the answers to their questions.

Had I not been an Educationalist then

I would have been a Doctor.

When and why did you decide to take up education as your career?

My choice of career was by chance but not by choice.
But as the saying goes “sometimes it’s the smallest decisions that can change your life forever” really it had, as I joined education sector along with my daughter so that I can balance the work and home front easily. I developed passion and interest in teaching. I love to be around children and to help them in all aspects. I am into this profession since 20years I upgraded myself in new and innovative methods of teaching to make myself well equipped to handle any situation.

As an educationalist, you are touching many human lives directly. Do you think educational institutions can play a significant role in overall development of students by encouraging them to take up co-curricular interests like Music, Art, Dance or Sports?

Yes. Educational institutions should focus on holistic development of a child by including co-curricular activities like Music, Art, Dance and Sports along with the Academics.
I believe in integrating co-curricular activities along with the Academics in the curriculum, so that the teachers to implement and students to take part with interest are encouraged.

What are some of the most important initiatives related to co-curricular that you have taken in the institutions you have served?

I have introduced arts and crafts, music and dance in the institutions I have worked.
Motivated the students to participate in All India Competitions. Sent drawings and paintings of our school students to Vishwa Kala Academy, Andhra Pradesh. Encouraged students to participate in Drawing, Singing and Essay writing competitions conducted by LIC of India. We bagged prizes in all the three contests.

In the days when most people measure success only by academic score, how would you convey to the parents of your students that co-curricular education is not something to be looked down upon?

As the saying goes, all work and no play make Jack a dull boy and vice-versa also stands good. I recommend parents to guide their children to balance between both the activities as it has become a mother of necessity in the present situations.

If you were to suggest one major change in perspective of co-curricular education, what would that be?

Co-curricular education should be made mandatory in all the institutions for all the students. The co-curricular activities also should carry equivalent weightage as the core subjects do.
The students should be motivated to participate in co-curricular activities by giving rewards so that all the students participate actively in all the activities introduced by the school.

Please let us know about some key achievements of your institution and/or your student(s) in MADS at national/international level?

Received National School Awards 2018 for “Best Upcoming School of the Year” in New Delhi on 25th August 2018.

What are your personal interests in Music, Art, Dance or Sports and how do you continue to pursue them?

My interests are singing, listening to Music and Dance. I practice singing regularly to relieve my stress and I improve myself. As I am a Kuchupudi Classical dancer, I love to teach and dance along with children also practice at home whenever I find time.

Any other thoughts you may want to share.

We have to encourage students to take their own decisions. We should orient parents not to compel their children to take their career according to the parent’s interest as children are not extension of the parent. The parents and teachers should play the role of facilitators not the decision makers.
