When and why did you decide to take up education as your career?

Educational atmosphere is where students have the opportunity to fulfil their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth. I believe I possess effective, positive human relations abilities in working with students, parents, teachers. This made me to pursue in the education filed.

As an educationalist, you are touching many human lives directly. Do you think educational institutions can play a significant role in overall development of students by encouraging them to take up co-curricular interests like Music, Art, Dance or Sport?

Yes, every educational institution has a responsibility to give more importance to MADS. There is no doubt in that each and every child surely has some talent in their special curriculum.

What are some of the most important initiatives related to co-curricular that you have taken in the institutions you have served?

In my school I have given more importance for Classical Dance, Western Dance, Art and Craft, Key Board, karate, Silambam, Band, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Swimming, Batmittion, Football, cricket, Kho Kho, handball, Throw Ball, etc.

In the days when most people measure success only by academic score, how would you convey to the parents of your students that co-curricular education is not something to be looked down upon?

From the beginning of the academic year itself, in the orientation session, we convey to the parents that 50% of the time and efforts will be put to regular academics and remaining 50% will be focussed on co-curricular education. The culture that we thus developed in this institution is very favourable towards co-curricular education.

If you were to suggest one major change in perspective of co-curricular education, what would that be?

One special day per week must be given to the students to perform co–curricular activities.

Please let us know about some key achievements of your institution and/or your student(s) in MADS at national/international level?

In Art Education our students selected for national level competition. In sports many of the students selected in various sports activities in national level as well as state level.

What are your personal interests in Music, Art, Dance or Sports and how do you continue to pursue them?

Daily after my school hours I do play volleyball with my students as well as I perform my yoga during school hours.
