Had I not been an Educationalist then

I would have been an Industrialist

When and why did you decide to take up education as your career?

I wanted to train the students so that I can communicate with the new generation with my new ideas that I had in my mind.

As an educationalist, you are touching many human lives directly. Do you think educational institutions can play a significant role in overall development of students by encouraging them to take up co-curricular interests like Music, Art, Dance or Sports?

Students should be developed physically as well as mentally and they should learn all the skills. MADS activities are indeed responsible for overall development of the children.

What are some of the most important initiatives related to co-curricular that you have taken in the institutions you have served?

We organise number of events throughout the year. We expect students should learn with these activities meanwhile practically doing them. Honing their leadership qualities and motivating them, their minds must become creative. This is only possible because of Music Arts Dance & Sports.

In the days when most people measure success only by academic score, how would you convey to the parents of your students that co-curricular education is not something to be looked down upon?

We emphasise on 60% of co-curricular practises and 40% of academics. We try to convince parents about our curriculum encouraging cocurricular activities when they come for admissions.  Parents also understand in a better way, when we discuss with them. Due to this they get interested and take admission in our institution.

If you were to suggest one major change in perspective of co-curricular education, what would that be?

We should give handful of training in all MADS activities. Not only classrooms but students should also be exposed to the outside world. Example for entrepreneurship, we must incorporate their minds to become an entrepreneur in life.

Please let us know about some key achievements of your institution and/or your student(s) in MADS at national/international level?

One of our students Omkar Randheer has achieved many prizes internationally in singing.

What are your personal interests in Music, Art, Dance or Sports and how do you continue to pursue them?

I like instrumental music and I attend a lot of concerts of live music.

Any other thoughts you may want to share.

Students shouldn’t be restricted only to classrooms teaching. They must be exposed to the outer environment to learn all things to become all-rounder.
