What are the key initiatives and facilities of your institution for MADS (Music, Art, Dance and Sport) as beyond education?

At DR. DY Patil B School, we believe in the holistic development of our students. At our Institute level we regularly organize various events to nurture and foster the creative pursuits of students. Our students are very talented, and they come from diverse backgrounds bringing along a lot much talent with them. Along with academic activities, focus is given on non-academic activities too to keep the mind and body sound.

What is your perspective of importance of MADS in overall development of students?

For the majority of college and university students, involvement in extracurricular activities plays an integral role in the collegiate experience. Students become involved in extracurricular activities not only for entertainment, social, and enjoyment purposes, but also to gain and improve their overall skills.

What are your suggestions to improvise MADS learnings at grassroots levels?

StudentsÔÇÖ participation in extracurricular activities such as drama, music, sport, debating and community work can be important in their overall engagement with school, and may be related to positive educational outcomes. Therefore, schools should provide a platform to budding talent in various fields.

What are your personal favorites in MADS and how you pursue it?

My personal favourite among MADS is sports. Playing sports provides important benefits for young and old alike, ranging from improvement in fitness and health to development of team spirit and feeling of accomplishment. Find a sport that you love, and you'll stick with it while at the same time you get to learn some essential life lessons and reap positive rewards.

Any other thoughts you want to share related to MADS

Music and the creative arts are part of the joy of humanity; but┬áthey are too often overlooked in education, in┬áfavor of the more ÔÇÿusefulÔÇÖ subjects such as science and┬ámathematics.┬áThere is undoubtedly an increasing pressure on young people and schools to achieve outstanding exam results ÔÇô but fortunately many schools can still see the value of creativity. Music makes you a better learner. The skills associated with learning an instrument, the discipline of┬ápracticing, are transferrable to any other subject. Aristotle said ÔÇÿThe roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweetÔÇÖ ÔÇô itÔÇÖs hard learning something and you can often struggle to see the value of it, but music has an immediate way of showing that youÔÇÖre making progress.
