Had I not been an Educationalist then

Surely, I would be in social activities

When and why did you decide to take up education as your career?

Our family background has always been education. Incidentally, no one decides to work in any field other than education. My goal was to become a best teacher for mathematics, because all others in the family are mathematics teacher. I decided to become teacher when I passed my 10th in 1976. My uncle was running mathematics coaching institute. He organized one class for bright students and another class for medium and dull students. He used to give second class of medium and dull students to me for basic and fundamental concepts. Due to my teaching, these students use to score equal and better marks in their examination. This made me to decide to help poor and weak students and take up as career  in education.

As an educationalist, you are touching many human lives directly. Do you think educational institutions can play a significant role in overall development of students by encouraging them to take up co-curricular interests like Music, Art, Dance or Sports?

I have seen number of students who do not like mathematics. They do not want to listen for their unlike subjects. We have to change their mind by encouraging them into co-curricular interest. Every student has some or the other interest and we need to identify that. This will take lot of efforts and support but it will give good results.

What are some of the most important initiatives related to co-curricular that you have taken in the institutions you have served?

We have done mostly music and sports as co-curricular activities. We arrange yoga, dance and other competitions like Rangoli, face-painting, hair styling, current affairs, technical computer puzzles, etc. These they are proving themselves useful in regular academic activities too.

In the days when most people measure success only by academic score, how would you convey to the parents of your students that co-curricular education is not something to be looked down upon?

Exactly I make the parents understand the value and requirement of co-curricular educational activities. These are useful to each and every student.  These activities help them to freshen their minds and make the students more active. I make comparison chart for both type of students and show their results in academic activities.

If you were to suggest one major change in perspective of co-curricular education, what would that be?

Development and supports to the deserving student. In addition, through co-curricular activities, the production of excellent human capital from the physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual aspect can be achieved. Excellent physical body will have excellent and developed mind.

Please let us know about some key achievements of your institution and/or your student(s) in MADS at national/international level?

Number of students achieved excellent position in their career.  Number of students opted their career in best sports as taekwondo and martial arts.

What are your personal interests in Music, Art, Dance or Sports and how do you continue to pursue them?

I have personal liking and interest in sports. I always encourage the students for taking part in sports activities.
